NEW YORK BASED PRODUCER

Joseph Baldassare is a New York based songwriter/producer with recorded music sales totaling well over 10 million units. While living in Koln, Germany and Athens, Greece from 1987-2006 working as an A & R consultant and staff producer for Polygram he received gold and platinum sales awards in England, Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Greece and Cyprus. His contemporary world music series, Living Theater resulted in a collaboration with the Paris Buddha Bar and once again changed the face of contemporary world music ushering in a sea of new artists and sounds. In the children’s music market he wrote, arranged and produced “Hampton and the Hampsters-Happy Times Ten” released on his record label Kunduru Music in cooperation with Sony Music and achieved a top five single on Radio Disney and a #1 single at XM Kids. To date, Joseph has produced 90 major label releases while his boutique record label Kunduru Music still receives over 10,000 streams per day.

In the movies he played the character of Jimmy alongside Tom Hanks in the cult classic “The Money Pit” and the new Eddie alongside Ellen Barkin in “Eddie and the Cruisers“. In the world of advertising he wrote the corporate theme songs for TWA, Sprite, Tang and Atari. On stage he performed as a third member of Hot Tuna from 1985-7 and as a stand- up comedian he played both the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City and Westbury Music Fair and just to make sure he is steadily making his way down the bucket list he has also ran the New York City marathon three times.

 

As curator and event producer, his company Arthouse18 has curated art events and exhibits featuring the works of legendary Hollywood photographer George Hurrell, Frank Sinatra and The Rat Pack, The world’s largest African American cinema archive Separate Cinema with Spike Lee as guest of honor, Chicago Blues legends and has also just completed his third annual Best of Broadway event/exhibition featuring the scenic and costume designs of Broadway’s best hosted by Tony award winning, Broadway icons Patti LuPone and Tommy Tune media sponsored by The New York Times.

Together with David Krakauer Joseph created the touring show entitled The Big Picture, a multimedia live show featuring the cinematic contribution of Jewish composers which toured the United States and Europe. Joseph also produced the album of the same name.

Joseph has been presenting a photographic exhibition of Bob Dylan and D A Pennebaker’s documentary masterpiece Dont Look Back in New York, Los Angeles and Tulsa ( a precursor to what is now The Bob Dylan Museum in Tulsa). He has also created a photographic print exhibition based on the 50th anniversary of Monterey Pop and an additional photographic exhibition entitled Trendsetters in Triptych.

Presently Joseph is in the middle of the making of a documentary based on the life of S.E. Hinton and The Outsiders, book publications with The Artist Book Foundation at Mass Moca (Glassworks, The Art of Frederick Birckhill), sitting on the board of the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City and booking the famed Zinc Bar jazz club in New York.
